I am writing this blog with a glass of whiskey on ice to honor the marriage of two fantastic people.
I met Aimee and Dave in December of last year. Honestly, after our second meeting (their engagement session), I felt like I was part of the family. They are both so warm, fun and welcoming. We bonded over drinks, football and pretty things. Aimee could not wait to marry Dave and Dave would glow whenever Aimee sent a smile his way. It was more than adorable.
Their wedding day started off with some torrential downpours. I was actually a little scared for us all. Just around 1pm the rain began to lighten and the sun peeked out for a few moments here and there. Aside from having to avoid the huge puddles, soggy grass and sporadic drizzle, the day turned out pretty nice! haha. We found cover when needed and everyone had a drink in hand and a smile on their face!
Aimee and Dave are blending their families and lives. Seven kids (7.5 really, if you count Lauren's stow-away) and seven BFF's made up their fun-loving and uber supportive bridal party. The venue was absolute perfection. Every special detail in place and Aimee's rustic, chic style was on full display!
Vintage furnishings for guests to relax with the his and her cocktails - an Old Fashioned made with "Schlaker's Mark" and champagne. A magnificent, floral explosion in the reception space. Specialty hot dogs flown in from Buffalo (home of the bride) and served from the vintage trailor parked just outside the reception barn. Perfection!
Every client asks me what my favorite part of the wedding day is and I can never really answer consistently because every wedding is different. Aimee and Dave had several moments that captured my heart.
1. Dave's box of pictures and vows to Aimee
2. Aimee's reaction to these heartfelt but real-life, practical vows - he does really love you more than his phone :)
3. The Maid of Honor speech with Aimee's yearbook and evidence of her motivations in life and how "hard" she loves.
These are some special people and they have raised some wonderful humans and surrounded themselves with fantastic friends.
Cheers to Dave and Aimee!
